Shopping on Amazon is so easy and convenient. I love that you can get something with 2 day shipping. They usually have the lowest price for an item and you can read lots of buyer reviews on a product, which are a great help to me. Here are my top Amazon Shopping tips to save on everything you need and want.
Amazon Shopping Tips
Check the Golden Box Deals! Everyday Amazon features a Gold Box Deal. This deal is sometimes for a group of products, sometimes it is just for one product. It usually has a pretty good discount. Please be careful though, Golden Box deals are only for deals through Amazon.com and not through resellers. For example, if they have 40% off Disney Classic DVD’s they have to be shipped from Amazon and not an authorized Amazon seller.
Check out the Lightning Deals. These deals only last a couple hours. During the Christmas season, some deals are so hot they last only a few minutes before they are sold out.
Get Discounted Shipping. If you do happen to purchase quite often on Amazon, you can sign up for Amazon Prime. You can start with a FREE Trial. Amazon Prime gives you the benefits of FREE two-day shipping, unlimited Prime Instant Video, and access to the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library. Amazon Prime costs $99 a year. If you have a valid EBT card you can sign up for a monthly plan that is just $5.99/month.
Get FREE Shipping with Amazon Student or Amazon Family. If you have an .edu email address, Amazon Student gives you six months free of Amazon Prime. With Amazon Family you will get 20% off on diapers and baby food, plus baby registry rewards.
Use FREE Super Saver Shipping. This is the option I used most often when I did not have a Prime membership. Look to lump together purchases you are making to reach the $25 threshold to get free shipping. If you don’t need your items in a hurry, this is your best bet. I have seen it take about three weeks to get your purchases.
Buy used. Look to see if am item you want to purchase is available from a private seller. Just look for the link that says “# used and new for sale” and click on it to see what’s available. I especially loved this during my college days. Who wants to buy a new textbook anyways.
Sign up for tailor-made savings. I get email alerts about things I am interested in and when they are on sale. Select the categories you shop most often to be notified of special deals and discounts.
Use Coupons on Amazon. Amazon has a whole section devoted to coupons you can use to save on everything from groceries, movies, electronics, and more.
Sign up for the Amazon Subscribe & Save program. Simply select items you buy regularly — anything from diapers to paper towels to office supplies — and Amazon will deliver them automatically AND give you 15% off. You get to choose how often the items are delivered and you can change or cancel deliveries at any time. Sometimes this is cheaper than the grocery stores, plus you have the convenience of not having to leave your home.
Get the item you want for the lowest price. You may know Amazon changes their prices frequently, sometimes daily. The best way to get the lowest price? Add items to your shopping cart in the “save for later” section and check back often. A yellow box at the top of the page will alert you to any price changes.
